Retrospective exhibition of the late Kym Afford
The man, the character and his art
This is more than just an exhibition. It is a collection of art and objects which tell the story of a bloke who was equally comfortable when holding a paintbrush, a pen, a hammer or an egg whisk.
Inspired by the world immediately around him, Kym Afford took considerable pride in being a self-taught artist, particularly in the fields of sculpture and caricature. During the 1990’s he enrolled for several practical art courses, carefully chosen to develop those hands-on skills that he needed to bring his ideas to the canvas. Art history and theory were of passing interest to him. His art usually came straight from the head to the hand.
