The Adelaide Hills Landscape Arts Prize is a biennial non-acquisitive contemporary art prize, established in 2017 by the Hahndorf Academy. In 2019 the Prize is presented in partnership with Beyond Ink, architects, and in association with The PaintBox, Hahndorf.

South Australian artists are invited to present work that engages with and interprets the Adelaide Hills and the diversity of the landscape. We invite artists to interpret their experience of the Adelaide Hills in ways that highlights and captures their awareness of its dynamic and diverse environment and landscape – natural, rural or urban – and its ever-changing seasons.

The prize is open to artists who reside in South Australia – emerging, mid-career or established – for 2D and 3D works in any medium created from 2018 onwards.

A panel of judges with professional expertise in the arts will select works for the Finalist Exhibition and nominate a winning work. The Finalist Exhibition will be presented at Hahndorf Academy and Beyond Ink’s Gallery, Hahndorf, 1 December to 26 January 2020.

Hahndorf Academy is a hub of creativity, heritage and contemporary culture with several galleries, a specialist museum, studios and a retail shop showcasing South Australian artists and makers. Workshops, exhibitions, history events, residencies and artist talks are regularly presented.

Beyond Ink is a family run, boutique architectural, interior design and construction company known for progressive and innovative design. We specialise in both residential and commercial projects, some of our recent projects include the Wolf Blass Gallery & Museum, The Lane Winery, The Haus Restaurant and world-class Murray Bridge Racing Club.

The PaintBox is an independent art and studio supplies store located in Hahndorf, offering a wide rage of quality materials and advice, with a studio for resident and guest artists.

Margaret Hacock Davis .jpg

Margaret Hancock Davis is Senior Curator at JamFactory. This role is the lead programming and coordination role for the JamFactory exhibition and publishing program – JamFactory exhibitions’ program included two galleries space in Adelaide, a gallery space in the Barossa and a national touring program. Margaret has written for and been editor on a number of publications and magazines and is Chair of RGSA Regional Galleries South Australia.

Kate Moskwa is the Chief Executive of the SALA (South Australian Living Artists) Festival. She has worked on the last six SALA Festivals and before that worked in local arts organisations including the Australian Network for Art and Technology, Adelaide Festival, Community Arts Network, and Adelaide Fringe. Kate has also worked internationally for the Australian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. She is a current board member of both Nexus Arts and Festivals Adelaide and was formerly Chair of FELTspace Artist Run Initiative.
